London Calling
Greetings friends and family! Since I didn't have internet until I got to London, I blogged what was going on at the current place and time. Hopefully I will be updating this blog daily with either a journal entry or possibly a video. I will do my best to make things at least slightly interesting for those of you reading this.
7/27/10 6:20 PM Sitting in the MSP airport, waiting for our plane to finish unloading (for you plane buffs out there, it's a 757). It still hasn't sunk in that in 7 hours I'll be landing in Iceland. Or that I won't be seeing my beloved Minneapolis skyline for nearly 3 weeks. For once I don't feel like I've forgotten something, which means I most likely have.
7/28/10 7:03 AM (Iceland time) The flight into Iceland was mostly uneventful, with some slight turbulence at the beginning and and very good veggie wrap in the middle. In case you haven't guessed, it hasn't gotten exciting yet. Iceland is flat, with sparse vegetation… not the most interesting place to look at from the airport. At any rate, things are going smoothly so far. Lets hope they stay that way.
7/28/10 7:50 PM My initial thoughts upon seeing London from the tube: "Wow, this looks just like the movies!" And that's pretty much how my experience has continued since then. London is hectic, pricey and crazy, but also lots of fun. The amount of expensive cars here is crazy. Bentley Continental GT's no longer impress me. I don't even notice when a Mercedes S Class passes by. After the third Lamborghini I hardly even got excited. What doesn't fail to excite is the constant risk of being run over though. Londoner's rarely signal, never stop for pedestrians, and often take turns so fast their tires are squealing. Every crosswalk becomes a real-life game of "Frogger." Thus far I've avoided being squashed, but just barely.
So far it appears that Europeans don't understand the concept of unsecured wireless internet… which makes my blogging a pricey endeavor. I might have to go with an every-other day cycle.
